Treatment for Male Herpes

Male Genital Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease which causes pain, discomfort and emotional trauma to those affected by this disease.  It is caused by the herpes simplex virus HSV 2.  HSV 1 us for oral herpes.  The virus is being passed on by having a contact to the affected area.

When taking a bath, use warm water with baking soda to minimize the itch and the pain.  Always keep your genital area dry and clean to avoid infections and to minimize itch and pain as well.  Use clean water and a mild soap in washing your genitals to avoid irritation. The only time that you can touch that area would be when you are taking a bath, but be cautious to wash your hands thoroughly.

Avoid touching the affected area.  If for instance, you accidentally touched that area, do not touch any other parts of your body as it may spread to other parts that you have touched.  Wash your hands frequently to make sure not to spread the virus.

Avoid picking on your sores.  Not just that it may lead to spreading the virus but it may also result to infection and will just prolong your agony.

You can take antiviral supplements like those with amino acid, antioxidant vitamins and zinc can also be very helpful.  You can try using Lysine, which contains amino acid but you need to use it only during outbreaks as it may lead to tolerance if taken frequently.  Avoid using over the counter medications since they may just prolong the outbreaks.  It is better to consult your doctor first for proper medication.

Try to educate yourself about your condition.  Remember that to know how to deal with this disease, you must be properly educated.  Awareness is the best weapon that you can have to control outbreaks that this illness will bring.

Always have an open and clear communication with your doctor.  It will be a good practice to ask questions about your disease so you can be advised properly and professionally.

When it comes to your sexual relationship with your partner, you need to discuss it with her so she will know and understand the risks.  This doesn't mean that since you have the virus, you should not be engaged in sexual contact to avoid passing on the virus to your partner.  You just need to take extra precautions by using a condom and avoiding having sexual contact during outbreaks.

Having herpes should not stop you from enjoying your life.  You just need to know how to deal with it.
